Schluchsee
The largest lake in the Black Forest – the Schluchsee – has been one of the cleanest swimming lakes in Germany for years. The Schluchsee is 7.3 kilometers long and 1.4 kilometers wide. The deepest spot on the bottom is 61 meters under the surface of the lake. The swimming areas known as Strandbad Seebrugg and Aqua Fun attract summer visitors and guests to enjoy swimming in the summer. Sailors, windsurfers, paddlers and anglers will find first-class water sports areas on the former glacial lake. The largest lake in the Black Forest can be experienced from its most beautiful side with the MS Schluchsee – enjoy the wonderful view during a one-hour cruise along the intact shoreline landscape. During this round trip you have the opportunity to “hop on & hop off”, i.e. disembark at one of four landing stages and walk around. The Schluchsee is surrounded by a large number of hiking trails. You can hike around the entire lake. This roughly 18 kilometers long tour is for the most part flat and suitable for baby carriages. Anyone who would like to be their own captain can rent a paddle boat or a motor boat and enjoy the landscape from the water. You will get a fantastic view of the village and lake on the Riesenbühl Tower, a popular hiking destination at Schluchsee. Climb around 25 meters up the 140 stairs and 27 intermediate landings in order to enjoy the wonderful view as far as the Alps (in the event of good visibility).
